LED’s are already used for many years, just think of the light behind your dashboard of the car. Perfect to use as marker lights especially as they consume just a little power (about 0,14Watt a piece) and have a very long life-time of over 70.000 hours. These we call normal LED’s.

Nowadays the high power LED’s are available which have more light-output and can be used to replace glowing bulbs or halogen lights. A 1Watt power LED can replace a 5 to 10Watt halogen light but only consumes 1Watt and has a life-time 40 times the life-time of a halogen light. Also LED’s lights are not sensitive to vibrations as glowing bulbs and halogen lights are and therefore don’t break down. LED lights will save you power, maintenance and as they last for a very long time eventually also money. LED lights are more expensive but as they will life for a much longer time it will decrease your cost.

High power LED’s are available in all kind of colours like red, blue, Yellow, etc. They are also available in what we call COOL WHITE and WARM WHITE. The difference for cool and warm white is the cool white has more light-output but the light is not very nice for the eyes. It’s a very bright light with a kind of a blue tan like the xenon lights they use in cars.
Warm white LED’s are much more nice for the eyes and look more like glowing bulbs and halogen lights. Cool white LED’s are good to use when a lot of light is required like flash lights more for outdoor use and warm white LED’s are good to use indoors for ceiling lights reading lights etc. Lets say cool white LED’s are functional and warm white are convenience.
